STRATEGY TALK – COMPETING IN THE AGE OF AI
22.09.2020 | 13:00 – 14:30
AI is more than a technology – it challenges the very concept of the enterprise. You will hear the results of the Harvard Professors Research of companies from Airbnb to Ant Financial, from Microsoft to Amazon. They will explain how and why AI-driven processes are much more scalable than traditional processes, how they massively expand reach, enable companies to transcend industry boundaries, and what kind of powerful learning opportunities they provide. In a second step they will reflect on the learnings from AI leaders and apply them to traditional and originally non-digital companies.
AI-centric organizations have a new operational architecture that redefines how they create, capture, share and deliver value. In their recent book Competing in the Age of AI: Strategy and Leadership – When Algorithms and Networks Run the World, Marco Iansiti and Karim R. Lakhani show how the reinvention of the enterprise in terms of data, analytics and AI removes traditional limitations on size, scope and learning that have hindered business growth for hundreds of years. From Airbnb to Ant Financial, from Microsoft to Amazon, research shows that AI-driven processes are much more scalable than traditional processes, that they massively expand reach, that companies can transcend industry boundaries, and that they provide powerful learning opportunities – to enable increasingly accurate, complex and sophisticated predictions.
In the second part of the session, we will reflect on the learnings from AI leaders and apply them to traditional and originally non-digital companies. Based on our findings from a brand new study among German managers we provide an overview of how companies currently use AI in innovation management and what challenges they face. We invite you to discuss with our experts from Harvard how you can compete in the age of AI.
